Bansko Nomadfest 2022 – The Recap

Once a year a festival to showcase the beauty and lifestyle of Bansko, Bulgaria is organized by Coworking Bansko. With keynotes, workshops, outdoor adventures and ample social time, this event, now in year 3, is a must for any digital workers’ social agenda. Attendees from around the world fly in to experience the magic that is Bansko.

It’s that time of year again. The last week of June where over 550+ Nomads make their way to the picturesque village of Bansko. Located in Bulgaria, 2 hours south of the capital Sofia, Bansko has become a nomad haven, known for its scenic setting, budget friendly living and now a thriving community of nomads and remote workers. There are hundreds of nomads that call Bansko home year-round. Once you arrive and explore it is absolutely easy to see the appeal.

70+ scheduled informative talks during the morning hours by fellow nomads made the week one to remember. The afternoon social lunches followed by the “unconference” sessions is where bonds were really formed. The beauty of the unconference element gives any attendee the opportunity to host a discussion circle on any subject. These ranged from marketing, relationships to spiritual growth.

The week definitely highlighted the town, the hospitality of the locals and the ample social activities available. I personally attended the ATV / Quad adventure trail which was a first! It was amazing to explore nature in this way. Horseriding, paintball, rafting, sightseeing tours, hot springs visits and hikes were also options to attend throughout the week.

The event organizers created an app that allowed you to schedule your days, check-in smoothly to events and access customer support. It made the experience easier to navigate the wealth of activities.

PassportCard Nomads Ambassador Dean Kuchel delivered a keynote that once more shared his amazing knowledge of 9+ years on the road. His talk “40 and retired: the path to financial independence,” was warmly received by the audience.

We had the opportunity to showcase the beauty of PassportCard Nomads insurance post-festival where we hosted an engaging discussion around travelers’ experiences of wellness on the road. It’s always wonderfully insightful to ensure we fully support travelers’ healthcare needs with their one-on-one feedback.
