1 WEEK, 274 DIGITAL NOMADS, 20+ INTERACTIVE TALKS, 2 EXCURSIONS, 1 PROPOSAL, COUNTLESS CONNECTIONS.
Digital nomad and PCNomads ambassador Lumin takes a look at the recent NomadBase event that saw our community come together in Croatia to enjoy learning, nature and adventure.
For one week in May, over 270 digital nomads, comprised of 43 nationalities took in the beauty, calm and comforts of Primosten, Croatia, while enjoying a curated conference of talks, interactive workshops, excursions and nighttime festivities. Nestled on the beachfront along the Adriatic Sea, 40 minutes from Split, the attendees were made to feel extremely welcome by this picturesque village with its jaw-dropping beauty for miles around.
NomadBase, the first dedicated business and travel club for digital nomads, provides an amazing community of networking, events, friendship and life education year-round. These components help the vibrant community members to engage and evolve via a like-minded support system. A community comprised of everyone from the self-employed to innovative leaders of industries, it is unlike any other.
From a daytrip exploring Kyrka Waterfall, through a wine-tasting session, to evenings learning Salsa/Bachata, there was certainly never a shortage of activities to enjoy. Self-orchestrated meetups sprang up daily around diverse topics from crypto to van-life. NomadBase’s shared chat platform keeps everyone informed with updates and the latest happenings, minute-by-minute. It is truly an interconnected community.
Some of the most popular highlights included:
- The memorable day-one keynote speeches. These included the opening keynote by our incredible ambassador, Dean Kuchel, entitled ‘Life lessons learned from 8 years of traveling the world,” which definitely inspired the audience to both laughter and tears. He genuinely lives by the motto, ‘Say YES, go explore.’
- A lunchtime boat cruise around the islands and lagoons, with an impromptu DJ-party onboard
- The infamous improvisation night, full of mayhem and laughs.
We at PassportCard Nomads were invited to host a panel discussion on staying healthy as a digital nomad. This afforded attendees the opportunity to gain perspective and insight from both seasoned and ‘newly-minted’ nomads about the importance of healthy living while globetrotting.
Sprinkled amongst the scheduled sessions and activities, the members were able to take in the sights, the history and feast at local eateries.
NomadBase not only centers around its members living their individual best lives, but encourages all to give back and make a difference in the world. Each event highlights a specific charity to support.
This time it focused its efforts on an orphanage in Ukraine. The orphanage in Velykyi Lubin near Lviv hosts children from the surrounding areas and from the East during the current war. Thanks to the support of the community €6,018 Euros have been raised so far.
As day seven arrived and the sun had set on the conference, the members were reveling in the experience while making their farewells. The deeply engaging moments, soulful connections plus the business and life lessons garnered will no doubt have lasting effects on all who attended. (This can definitely be said for the couple that made their wedding proposal on stage on the closing night! – Mind-blown!)
There is something amazing in the air when you are surrounded by spirited, free thinking people that support, nurture and genuinely care for one another. The diversity, the commonalities and connections are powerful. We love and support our digital nomads confidently thriving and shining around the world.
